Venison HamBurger Helper

Camping friendly wild game burger helper. Make this delicious family friendly recipe on the go or at home with either the Cancooker or Dutch oven cooking methods.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Cooking Spray or Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion, Chopped
  • 1 pound Ground Venison (Or Bear, Moose, etc)
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Parsley Optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (More or Less to Taste)
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper (More or Less to Taste)
  • 1 (8 ounce) can Tomato Sauce
  • 3 cups Beef Bone Broth (or Regular Beef Broth)
  • 1 cup Uncooked Tubular Pasta
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  1. If making this recipe while camping: Mix together the seasonings and pasta in a mason jar before you leave.
  2. CanCooker Method

    1. Spray with CanCooker with nonstick cooking spray or 1 tablespoon of olive oil and add in onions. Allow the onions to cook for a couple minutes before adding in ground venison. Cook the venison until it’s browned but still pink. Drain any fat with a paper towel if needed.
    2. Add in tomato sauce, bone broth, and mason jar contents. Mix well then latch with the lid of the Cancooker.
    3. Allow to cook for 40-45 minutes with the lid latched. Pasta should be fully cooked. Add in cheese and mix until melted, then serve.
  3. Dutch Oven Method:

    1. If using a Dutch oven and a small amount of cooking oil to the bottom of the pan if not well seasoned then add in onions. Allow the onions to cook for about 5 minutes stirring often
    2. Add in ground venison and cook it until its mostly brown but still has some pink. Drain with a paper towel if needed.
    3. Add in tomato sauce, bone broth, and mason jar contents and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cook for 12-15 minutes or until the pasta is tender and fully cooked.
    4. Mix in cheese until its melted and serve.
