Easy Jalapeño Popper Smash Venison Tacos

These Jalapeño Popper Smash Venison Tacos combine ground venison, crispy bacon, spicy jalapeños, and creamy cheese for a quick and flavorful meal – perfect for the campfire or home kitchen!

If you are looking for a bold, easy-to-make wild game recipe that delivers serious flavor, these Jalapeño Popper Smash Venison Tacos are a must-try. A fun take on two of my favorites- Venison Jalapeno Poppers and Venison Smash Tacos. They’re loaded with ground venison, crispy bacon, jalapeños, cream cheese, and cheddar, they’re a mash-up of taco night and everyone’s favorite party appetizer. And the best part? They come together in just a few simple steps, with minimal ingredients and maximum flavor.

Whether you’re cooking on a campfire griddle or a skillet at home, these tacos are incredibly versatile. The smash technique gives the venison a crispy edge, while the melted cheddar and creamy jalapeño spread tie it all together. It’s a recipe that’s easy enough for a quick weeknight meal but impressive enough to serve at deer camp or your next wild game gathering. To make this even easier, you can bring pre-made jalapeño cream cheese and I use that to spread over top of the tacos. Give this one a try, and let me know what you think by leaving a review.

  • Author: Jenn Homa
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 23 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground Venison
  • 6 Corn or Street Sized Flour Tortillas
  • Steak Seasoning, To Taste, Divided
  • 6 slices Bacon, Cooked and Diced
  • 4 small Jalapenos, (2 Thinly Sliced and 2 Seeded and Diced)
  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  1. Divide ground venison into 6 equal pieces and spread the meat onto 6 tortillas covering out to the edges. Top with steak seasoning and a few jalapeño slices and press the jalapeños into the meat. Set aside.
  2. To a medium sized bowl, add diced jalapeños, softened cream cheese, a sprinkle of steak seasoning and mix well and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet or griddle over medium high heat, cook diced bacon until browned and crisp. Drain bacon and set aside.
  4. In the now empty skillet or griddle, add the venison tacos, venison side down. Smash the tortillas down with your spatula and cook for 3 minutes. Flip, sprinkle with a handful of cheddar cheese and cook for another 2 minutes, until the venison is cooked through and cheese is melted. Repeat with all of the tortillas.
  5. Spread the jalapeño cream cheese over top of the venison, top with cooked bacon and serve.

  1. These were AMAZING! The only thing I did differently is that I cooked the jalapeños before addging them directly to the meat mixture and cream cheese. I wanted to make sure they were soft and more mellow in flavor. These were a huge hit! This was my first time trying a recipe from Jenn but it certainly won’t be our last!
