CrockPot BBQ Venison Sandwiches

Perfect for a those busy hunting months, this shredded venison barbecue recipe is made easily in the crockpot! With a quick and easy prep, you can get out the door in minutes. When you get home 6-8 hours later, all you’ll have to do is shred the venison and top with your favorite toppings. (Plus more sauce if you’re like me!)

This recipe works great year round. I just think there’s something comforting about coming home to a meal that’s basically ready to go, especially during hunting season. Most days I don’t even have time to think about what I’m eating, let alone make it! This recipe is perfect for people always on the go because while it lacks in prep time, its bursting in flavor!

Barbecue Venison Sandwiches

Description

Insanely easy. Insanely tasty. After being slow cooked all day, the venison is fork tender. 


Ingredients

1.5-2 lb Venison Roast*

1 tablespoon olive oil

Your favorite BBQ Rub

1 medium onion, diced

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 1/2 cups of Beef Broth

1 cup Barbecue Sauce, plus more for serving

2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar

Sandwich Buns

Optional toppings:

Pickles

Coleslaw

Cheese


Instructions

  1. Clean venison roast and remove all silver skin. Pat dry using paper towels then drizzle allover with olive oil and sprinkle your BBQ rub into the venison roast then rub all over the meat using your hands. 
  2. Place venison roast into a slow cooker with onion, minced garlic, broth, barbecue sauce and apple cider vinegar. 
  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat shreds easily with two forks. 
  4. Serve on a sandwich bun with your favorite toppings.

Notes

* You can use a larger venison roast, but you may need to adjust other ingredient amounts/cook times accordingly.
