Whether you’re cooking over a portable stove at deer camp or whipping up a quick dinner at home, this recipe brings a sweet, spicy, and tangy twist to ground venison.

Why This Recipe Works for Hunters and Campers
Ground venison is one of the most versatile ingredients in my wild game freezer. It’s lean, flavorful, and cooks up quickly—perfect for weeknights or when you’re low on time and energy at camp. Pair it with a bottle of Thai sweet chili sauce, some aromatics, and crisp lettuce cups, and you’ve got a meal that feels a little fancy but takes zero fuss. I’ve made this recipe on a camp stove, in a cabin kitchen, and at home. It’s forgiving, packs easily, and doesn’t require any special equipment. You can even prep some of the toppings ahead of time to make assembly even easier.

Tips for Camp Cooking
- Pre-mix the sauce in a small container before you head out to make things even quicker.
- Use bagged shredded carrots and pre-chopped herbs to save prep time.
- If you don’t have lettuce, small flour tortillas work great too.
- This also makes a killer rice bowl—just bring instant rice to heat up with the meat.
